
Dr. Darcy Adin
a clinical professor of cardiology at UFCVM, is now serving as the assistant dean and chief medical officer of the UF Small Animal Hospital. Her appointment was effective July 17.
A board-certified veterinary cardiologist, Adin also directs the hospital’s new open-heart surgery program for dogs.
“Dr. Adin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our hospital. She has an exceptional academic background, demonstrating a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and advancing veterinary practice standards,” said the college’s dean, Dana Zimmel, D.V.M.
“As chief medical officer, she will be vital in guiding and overseeing our hospital’s operations and the quality of our clinical delivery. Her leadership and qualifications will contribute to maintaining the excellent standards of care we provide to our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for our team.”
Adin received her D.V.M. from Cornell University in 1996. She completed her residency in cardiology at the University of California, Davis, and subsequently worked in private practice as a mobile cardiologist in California before joining the UF College of Veterinary Medicine faculty in 2001 as a clinical instructor in cardiology, becoming a clinical assistant professor in 2003.
From 2006 to 2014, she e worked in private practice for two different specialty groups in New York and Ohio. Over the next three years, Dr. Adin served on the faculty at North Carolina State University as a clinical assistant professor, returning to UF and our cardiology faculty in 2018.
