Matthew Johnson, D.V.M., (’97) has been officially recognized as a fellow in minimally invasive small animal orthopedic surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

A clinical associate professor of small animal surgery at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, Johnson is the first individual to obtain fellow status in this discipline.

The ACVS is the specialty board that sets the standards for advanced professionalism in veterinary surgery and is the specialty organization recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association for the certification of veterinarians in large and small animal surgery.

The UF veterinary college is the only one in the world to offer four ACVS-approved fellowship programs: minimally invasive surgery-soft tissue, surgical oncology, minimally invasive orthopedic surgery and joint replacement surgery.
