Dr. Ashley Allen-Durrance

Ashley Allen-Durrance, D.V.M, has been named assistant dean of admissions and student success at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, effective January 3.

A clinical associate professor in the department of small animal clinical sciences, an emergency and critical care specialist and co-service chief of the UF Small Animal Hospital’s ECC service, Dr. Allen-Durrance has been a member of the UF faculty since 2014. She spent a year as a clinical lecturer with the ECC service, following a residency in emergency and critical care she began at Auburn and completed at UF in 2014. She also completed an internship at UF in small animal medicine and surgery in 2011.

Her numerous accomplishments as co-service chief for the ECC include assisting in the recruitment and hiring of 11 faculty members to the service. She also created a novel academic E.R. doctor training program to recruit fourth-year veterinary students and successfully recruited two students to pilot the program in June 2022. Dr. Allen-Durrance also has been honored numerous times by our students for her teaching abilities, including being named Small Animal Clinician of the Year by the Class of 2020.

In her new role, she will work closely with Amanda House, D.V.M., the college’s associate dean for academic and student affairs, and will take point on admissions and student issues as well as scholarships and awards.
