Michael Dark, Executive Director, Veterinary Diagnostic Labs, College of Veterinary Medicine
Michael Dark, D.V.M., Ph.D., a clinical associate professor of anatomic pathology at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, has been named executive director of the college’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
Dark’s role previously was as service chief of anatomic pathology. In his new position, he will be responsible for the laboratory’s overall operation and administration. His new duties will also include ensuring lab compliance with the accreditation requirements of the American Association of Veterinary Diagnosticians, as well as facilitating development of new services and methodologies.
“I am extremely pleased to have Dr. Dark join us in this new role, as he brings experience, expertise and leadership qualities that will translate into success for this new and exciting venture,” said Dr. Tom Vickroy, who served as acting dean of the college at the time of Dark’s appointment last fall.
A board-certified veterinary pathologist, Dark received his D.V.M. degree from Michigan State University in 2001, and his Ph.D. degree in veterinary microbiology and pathology from Washington State University in 2008. He has been a faculty member at UF since 2009.
